St. Gianna Parish Pro-Life Mission Statement

Under the protection and intercession of St. Gianna Beretta Molla, we will peacefully, prayerfully work to spread the Gospel of Life and work for the end of abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, and all attacks on the sanctity of human life.

Spiritual Ministry:

• Pro-Life Rosary and the Litany of St. Gianna Beretta Molla is prayed each Saturday at 7:30 AM.
• Special Blessing at the Shrine of St. Gianna with the first-class relic of St. Gianna on the first Saturday of each month immediately following the 8 AM Mass for couples trying to conceive, expectant mothers, and expectant mothers with high risk pregnancies.  Couples are invited to write their names and intentions in the St. Gianna Pro-Life Ministry prayer book.  A votive candle at the Shrine of St. Gianna remains lit throughout the year for these intentions.
• St. Gianna Prayer Chain is activated for special prayer requests, for unborn babies in danger of abortion, for women in crisis pregnancies, and those in need of spiritual/physical healing, etc.
• Pro-Life Ministry members pray for expectant mothers and those who have received the blessing at the Shrine of St. Gianna.
• Provides a Baptismal Bag for the newly baptized babies (includes rosary, Miraculous Medal crib broach, holy water bottle, wall crucifix, Guardian Angel Holy Prayer Card).
• Provides a gift bag for mothers who have miscarried or lost an infant and have received a special blessing at the Shrine of St. Gianna Molla.
• Prayer for Life from Evangelium Vitae prayed at all masses on the 3^rd weekend of the month.
• Pro-Life Prayer Partners offer prayers, fasting, sacrifices for the special intention that our nation will turn to God and become a Culture of Life that respects and defends each human life from inception until natural death (includes Eucharistic adoration, rosary novena, fasting, daily meditations, prayerfully witnessing at abortion centers, etc.).

• Provides Pro-Life educational resources including bulletin announcements/inserts, literature in the vestibule, pro-life news, life and religious liberty legislation and action alerts distributed through Constant Contact email messages and on the parish website under “Evangelization” at www.stgiannaparish.org
• “Why We Are Pro-Life” brochures are available in the vestibule.

• Adoption of mothers and their babies at Our Lady’s Inn in St. Charles County at Christmas with baskets of baby clothing, bedding supplies, diaper bags, baby carrier covers, gift cards, etc.  Supplies for the care of babies also provided (diapers, wipes, baby laundry detergent, etc.).  Additional resources provided throughout the year as needed.
• Supporting organizations that support mothers who have chosen life and providing them with resources to care for their babies (Birthright of Wentzville, Crisis Nursery, Our Lady’s Inn, etc.) throughout the year as needed.
• Project Elderly at Eastertime recognizes the dignity of life at the later stages of life by acknowledging the elderly at several local nursing homes with gift baskets of travel size personal care items, candy, prayer booklets, etc.
• Witnessing at the Planned Parenthood locations, witnessing at other abortion centers in Illinois, participation in St. Charles County Life Chain, participation in Coalition Life’s March On The Arch, participation in Forty Days for Life, participation in Lobby Day in Jefferson City, etc.
