Who We Are

As Catholics of St. Gianna Parish, in communion with our Archbishop, and our Holy Father, the Bishop of Rome, we are called by Jesus Christ to be His body, the Church, in our local community and to fully live the Gospel.

With faith, hope and charity, we strive to live our discipleship by fervent prayer, inspired worship, sound teaching, and sharing our faith with those in physical and spiritual need.

"UNDERSTANDING THE SCRIPTURES"
BIBLE STUDY
The week of October 20th is the first week of the 30 week St. Gianna-IHM Bible Study, with the book Understanding The Scriptures by Scott Hahn. The series will be divided into 5 or 6 week increments with a break in between sessions. Monday morning's session on October 20, as well as all Mondays, is facilitated by JoAnn Conti, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Babysitting will be provided. Wednesday, October 22, has the first evening session, regularly led by Ryan Slattery, and begins at 7:00 p.m. Both sessions will last about 1 hour and willl entail group discussion of the next chapter of the book, in this case, the first chapter. Ken Pop will sub as facilitator as needed. Babysitting is NOT set at this time for the evening sessions, but we are working on it.

Please obtain the book, Understanding The Scriptures, ASAP so that you can read the first chapter of the book BEFORE the group discussion. The book is available for purchase online, in new and used form, for anywhere from $20-$50, on several websites, i.e., Amazon.com, lighthousecatholicmedia.com, alibris.com, Abebooks.com, ignatius.com, etc. Couples may share the hardback book. The public library may have a copy of the book, also. (The accompanying workbook is not needed.) A Catholic Bible is also needed for reference.

Bring your books, notes and questions to the session. Be prepared for a lively discussion along with getting to know your fellow parishioners. May the Holy Spirit inspire our study!
